Continue any malaria tablets for four weeks (one week for Malarone)

Tell your doctor that you have returned from a malarial area if you become ill, especially in the first three months, but even up to a year or so after your return

Mention that you’ve been on holiday and where (even if your doctor doesn’t ask) if you see him or her about any unexplained symptoms

Casual sex should be followed by a check at an STI clinic or by your GP

Arrange to have a blood test, even if symptom free, after wading or swimming in African lakes or other schistosomiasis risk water.
